Qualifications

EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred

EXPERIENCE – 5 years as registered dietitian in a clinical, hospital based pediatric or adult setting rquired.

LICENSURES/CERTIFICATION(S) – CDR certification (Commission on Dietetic Registration) required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Develops individual goals and initiates own evaluation to enhance clinical practice and professional growth through continuous acquisition of knowledge, skill development, by assuming a leadership role in clinical education, and the evaluation and communication of department goals and outcomes.
  • Directs and monitors direct reports in order to meet and maintain clinical competencies, ensure understanding of and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, optimize performance and efficiency of the workforce, as well as assist with continuing education of staff. Ensures staffing resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources to meet both patient and department needs.
  • Participates in long-and short-term program development and planning within the department as well as with external stakeholders.
  • Provides full supervisory authority over staff; including recruitment, disciplinary action, performance evaluations and orientation, training, and professional development.
  • Continuously strives to support and improve clinical, educational, research, and advocacy programs in department; sets and models high performance standards that empower staff to achieve agreed upon outcomes to help improve the department’s effectiveness.
  • Maintains a high level of organizational awareness in order to successfully engage, impact, and influence others with a goal of achieving high value patient care and outcomes, and contribute positively to the organization’s effectiveness.
  • Maintains shared fiscal accountability with department leadership in the development of annual budgets, managing and providing variance reporting, and payroll documentation. Understands, manages and communicates overall CHCO and departmental financial responsibilities and goals.
  • Monitors team activities to ensure quality and accuracy of work outcomes. Coordinates evaluation and quality improvement activities, including collaboration and evaluation with other departments, hospitals and agencies as appropriate.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of unit/department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice and organizational policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Utilizes expert evidence based practice to provide clinical expertise to the patient, family and healthcare team by coordinating developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes as appropriate. Provides clinical follow up when desired outcomes are not achieved.
